Whilst serving a diverse congregation, the Old Kent Road Mosque and Islamic Cultural Centre is home to London’s oldest Nigerian Muslim community.
The Muslim Association of Nigeria UK (MAN UK) informally started in the early 1960s with a transient community of Nigerians coming to London to study. Initially staying only for short periods of time, it was not until the 1980s when a more permanent community started to develop.
We are a thriving community hub in the heart of South London. Our congregation members come from different walks of life and our doors are open to all. We promote spiritual development, community engagement and mutual respect for all.
The Janazah or “Islamic funeral prayer” is a part of the funeral rituals as detailed by the Shari’ah. The prayer is performed in congregation to seek pardon for the any Muslims that have passed away.
